A Foodie Extravaganza

There is this Malayalam movie called Salt and Pepper. The first scene of the movie is in a classroom where the teacher is explaining food chains to group of 8-9 year olds. As he explains that we eat to survive, a young boy contradicts him saying that we live to eat. As the children around him laugh, he proceeds to take out a piece of tamarind and sucks on it, making the entire class including the teacher drool quite shamelessly.

So, my point is some people are born to eat. And I half belong to that category. Food is a weakness for me. Couple of days before, we got a notice with the newspaper about a new restaurant that opened in the vicinity. Since then, I have been dying to check it out as soon as possible. So today, finally we went there.

It was a nice place with muted golden lights and a quiet ambience and an amazing tag line that read 'Count the memories not the calories'. My parents and me fell all over the menu. The food consisted mainly of pizzas and pastas etc. And so we ordered. A lot. A whole lot. By the time half of the food came we were wilting. After some time, we stared at each other not quite able to work out what to do with all the food. Finally we decided to pack it up and take it home. However, leaving without ordering dessert is just not done. So there we are trying to order something, not quite sure what. And they give us, two pastries on the house! They probably felt sorry seeing our plight.

And now here we are, all three of us at home. Looking at each other each cradling a stomach that's probably cursing us for overloading it. Let's hope it does not short circuit. Fingers crossed.
